So you’ve heard about Faire and want to get an idea if it’s worth exploring so you’ve searched for Faire reviews, we hear you and this thinking is pretty common for those exploring platforms like this as ultimately you don’t want to waste time and effort signing up, listing products or joining to buy and the experience being a waste of time.

Faire is an online wholesale platform, put simply, it connects products to sellers in a B2B sense. Originally called Indigo Fair, they now operate as Faire and operate from Faire.com. 

Businesses that sell products can create an account, list the products they sell and sell them directly to other businesses, shops, retailers and stockists. These business customers can browse through the products online, place wholesale orders and do it all online via the platform.

How Faire works

As a business wholesale marketplace there are two customers/users of the platform, businesses who sell their products on Faire and then businesses that purchase products on Faire to resell.

For businesses selling on Faire

For those who have products to sell and want to increase their wholesale orders, they can sign up to Faire online, Faire vet and approve all of the sellers on the platform, making sure they are legit and have good products.

Once approved, businesses can make their listing with information about their business itself as well as then list the products they sell. These products will then go onto the Faire marketplace for customers to discover and make wholesale orders of. 

You can also point your existing customers or any new wholesale enquiries that come to you directly to the Faire site to place them via that if preferred and they won’t incur any commission.

  2. Once approved, you’ll be able to follow the onboarding, creating your business profile and uploading your products
  3. Orders from businesses who find you via Faire itself will incur a 15% commission plus $10 initial order fee, with subsequent orders being just the 15% commission. There are also payment processing fees which are an additional 3%. 
  4. Payment for orders can be as fast as 30 days but if you opt for a slower payout the fee’s for payouts are reduced.

The fee structure has come under some scrutiny from some sellers who have questioned the fee structure, some have stated that the commission when new customers who have come through Faire directly is too much, however these are generally new customers who may never have found them before so this must be thought of when considering this view point.

The return policy is another factor that some sellers have not been happy with but this generally seems to be on a case by case basis where some have not had the best experiences whilst others have had no issues with returns.

One thing to bear in mind is if you send your customers to Faire is that you do lose a little control as compared to when you manage them directly.

If you start selling on wholesale platforms and you do get affected by something out of your control then at least you’ll still have these other avenues to bring you in sales.

When setting you products prices you need to make sure that you have a decent enough margin when you factor in the commission and fees related to selling on Faire. This includes both the commission when you sell but also the payment processing and withdraw fees.

You need to make sure that its financially a good idea with your product and margin to sell on the platform. 

Use it as an additional place to sell

It’s best used as another avenue for sales, don’t focus all of your sales into it. We advise that it’s best to see it like you would another selling platform, so continue to sell directly, through other marketplaces and so on.
